A lot of things, people, situations and happenings have the ability to take away our smile. Taking that away from us, they also take away our right to be a happy person. But to be honest, we are the ones who make the decisions to be in a bad mood, because our thoughts and mind dictate what our mood would be like.
You can choose to be happy and in a good mood, and you can do it right now! Follow our tips, and improve your mood instantly!
Include the colours of the rainbow in your life – Your closet must be full of colourful clothes. Start wearing them as often as you can. This is a proven fact that colours can improve your current mood. Another thing to do is to paint your walls at home with some cheerful colours. Although it might seem odd, if the walls are painted with some dark, melancholic color, that’s what your mood will be like. Chrome therapy (color therapy) has been proven to improve your mood. Put on some yellow jacket, or paint your nails with some red nail polish. Feel the positive change!
Make another person happy – Today people don’t care about each other. Even our friends don’t care if we had a bad day at work, or a fight at home. Notice that even if you tell a bad story to some of your friends all they can say is that such things happen. Well, do not be like them. When someone reaches you with a problem, or asking for some advice, give it to them; listen to them carefully and patiently. If you can make another person happy, at the end of the day you will feel happy as well!
Wake up thinking positively – How does your day start? Do you want to punch someone, or do you feel like today is the day that you will change the world, or win the lottery? This affects our mood more than anything. When you open your eyes in the morning, think about something positive, think about a happy situation that made you smile. This will help you with your mood throughout the entire day. When you wake up, say it out loud: “This is going to be a perfect day, and I am not going to let anyone or anything ruin it”. Another thing you can do is put some stickers next to your bed, or in a position where you can read them when you wake up. Your mind will absorb them before you know it!
Think of three things you are grateful for – Do you feel like something is pulling you down? Stop doing whatever you are doing and start thinking about what makes your life happier. Is it the happy relationship you have, how about your kids, your health… Think of whatever makes you happy!
Get rid of the clothes you don’t like – If there is something that you don’t like to wear, or you keep clothes that make you feel and look skinnier get rid of them, because the only thing they do is reminding you of being above the wanted weight! Get rid of the clothes that fill you up with negative thoughts. Keep the clothing that can improve your self esteem.
Get a pet – Owning a pet can significantly improve your mood. If you already own a pet, play with them anytime you feel down. It also decreases the stress hormones.
Enjoy the moment – Be grateful for what you have done so far. Stop thinking about what to do next or how to improve your career and how to impress your boss. Enjoy what you have achieved so far. Avoid stressful moments, and enjoy what you have. Be spontaneous. If you manage to do so, your body and mind will feel relaxed and your mood will be better than before.
Finish the job you’ve been postponing for long time – A lot of people use the excuse of being too busy to finish a certain job that’s been waiting in the corner for so long. Although unconsciously this bothers our mind a lot! Deal with it, otherwise it will affect your mood, constantly. Getting the list of things you need to do shorter, will improve your mood, and you will feel the change really soon after you get rid of the things you’ve been postponing for so long.
Eat an orange – Fruit rich in Vitamin C improves your mood a lot. They work instantly. Whenever you feel you’re in a bad mood, eat an orange and you will be able to tell the difference.
Learn something new – Challenge your mind. Challenges and learning new things are the key to happiness and success. If you manage to achieve this, your mood will be perfect. People who learn new things whether that is a new language, or learning how to play a new game, or visiting a new place are happier than those who do nothing. Human’s brain is stimulated by learning new things and it feels more satisfied compared to people who repeat the same activities over and over.
Remind your loved ones and yourself about the love – Tell your kids and your partner you love them before you go to work. Send an SMS to your spouse and surprise them by saying you made a reservation at their favourite place for tonight. Tell your parents how much you love them, and how grateful you are for what they have done for you. When your heart is filled with love, your brain can feel it and automatically you are a happy person.
Buy flowers for yourself – Although it may sound strange, this has been proven as a thing that improves your mood. It only takes one bouquet to start feeling happy again. This happens because when our brain sees flowers it connects them to happy memories.
Fool your brain you’re happy, until you really are – Laughing and fooling yourself that you are happy is the last thing you want to do if you are in a bad mood. But stop there, if you manage to fool your brain with this simple trick, after a while your brain will accept it, and there goes your bad mood. Try being angry with a smile on your face. Can’t do it, can you?
